Maintain grades. Know what GPA you need, and make it your top priority to achieve and maintain it.
Top Choices List. Time to start thinking about what school to go to!
Research, research research! Peruse online. Consult family members, teachers, trusted adults, older friends, mentors. Think about what you want your experience to be like
Identify top choices, and back up choices.
College Visits. Plan to go to the actual school to get a feel for what it’s like and to meet students and faculty.
Call ahead for appointments with financial aid, admissions & academic advisors.
Send thank-you notes as well as email post visit.
Find out requirements of each school. Each school will have unique admissions requirements. Find out what is needed from each, make a checklist, and make sure you’re set up to get everything in on time.
ACT/SAT registration & test. Register for the ACT or SAT, or both. Give yourself time to study, send scores, and potentially re-take the test.
Gather Recommendation letters. Talk to teachers, counselors, advisors, and other adults. Make your request 1 month in advance.
Research Scholarships, and apply. Find out requirements, make a checklist with a timeline, and stick to it.
